Historic houses

Northamptonshire boasts some of the country's very best historic houses, many of them still home to descendants of the families who built them. Each one is full of unique treasures, spellbinding history and the wonderful stories of those who lived, loved and worked in them.

Heritage sites and archives

Our county has witnessed the birth of Richard III, the death of Mary Queen of Scots, the hatching of the Gunpowder Plot and much more. While the county archives contain masses of unique documents, information, stories, facts and insights into those who lived, worked, loved and died here.

Hindsight is our annual journal and it gives you the opportunity to have your latest research published on the history and heritage of Northamptonshire. We particularly look for examples of research on historic buildings or landscapes, museums, people, events, collections and artefacts.
