Northamptonshire Black History Association (NBHA) has developed from a volunteer-led community project established in 1982. In the summer of 2005, Northamptonshire Black History Association formed as a membership organisation to continue the activities of the project.

It is always their aim to ensure that it remains an organisation that works with and for the local community.

Northamptonshire has its own hidden Black histories and, like elsewhere in Britain, the contributions of people of African, Asian and Caribbean origins have been invisible to the majority of people living in the county today.

Over the years, the Association has conducted research projects and created educational resources to help change these inaccurate perceptions.
