Richard Barnwell

Born in Kettering, Richard is a Northamptonshire farmer and also an auctioneer in Cambridgeshire. He has been a Councillor on all levels of Council, from Parish to County. At present he is a member and chairman of two Northants Parish Councils: Great Cransley where he lives and the relatively new village of Mawsley, which was his idea. He helped plan the village and it was built entirely on his land.

A former High Sheriff and Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Richard is currently President of the Kettering Civic Society, Vice President of the Wisbech Society and Preservation Trust, Founder Trustee of The Octavia Hill Birthplace Museum and The Lilian Ream Historic Photograph Trust, as well as a trustee for Peterborough Cathedral, Magpas Air Ambulance, Victoria County History, and seven other charities.

In addition, Richard is an Honorary Freeman of London and Wisbech, a Freemason and Rotarian. Married to Beverly, his interests are local history, practical conservation and restoration, and helping people to interpret and respect the countryside.
