Kettering Civic Society
Founded in 1969, Kettering Civic Society is an independent voluntary organisation working with the local authority and partner groups to promote and protect the town’s heritage. Acting as both stakeholder and co-ordinator, the society supports initiatives that celebrate Kettering’s built environment, history and civic pride. The society organises talks and visits, presents the annual Silver Rose Bowl Award for contributions to Kettering’s civic life, and maintains a growing Blue Plaque Trail. It also enhances Kettering station through planting projects.

Past projects
The society led the campaign to save the 15ft by 45ft mosaic from the former Kettering Grammar School (demolished in 2007). A facsimile by Oliver Budd, son of artist Kenneth Budd, is now installed at the Alfred East Art Gallery.
Following enquiries from local schools, the society produced illustrated history magazines for all ages, based on Ron Greenall’s History of Kettering.
