St Peter’s Church, Northampton

St Peter’s is the finest 12th century Norman church in the County. So says Pevsner and the Corpus of Romanesque Buildings.

The rich detailed sculpture on the capitals makes it of national importance. The churchyard is the final resting place of William Smith, ‘Father of English Geology’. This is truly a place that Heritage visitors must see. One visit will not be enough.
