Matt Taylor
Matt is the Heritage Manager for North Northamptonshire Council, playing a leadership role in the preservation and promotion of the region's cultural treasures. He is responsible for overseeing two significant heritage sites: The Cornerstone in Kettering, which houses the Alfred East Art Gallery, Manor House Museum and Gardens, and the Kettering Carnegie Library, as well as the Corby Heritage Centre within the service for Culture, Heritage and Tourism under Jack Pishhorn.
Before taking on this role, Matt gained valuable experience as the General Manager for a prominent retail organisation, where he developed his leadership and organisational capabilities. He further demonstrated his knack for large-scale event management while serving on the leadership team for Workforce Operations at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an experience that deepened his understanding of community engagement and operational success.
Additionally, Matt has contributed to the local community as the Commercial Director for AFC Rushden and Diamonds, focusing on the club's growth and outreach initiatives. He holds a 1st class BA Honours degree in Sport and Community Development from Sheffield Hallam University, and his dedication to education and research was highlighted during his time as a researcher at the same institution.
In his community involvement, Matt is active in several organisations. He serves as the Finance Secretary for the Wellingborough and North Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, advises Rushden and Higham United FC, and supports local Rotary Clubs. He is also a member of the Kettering Civic Society and the Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society, showcasing his commitment to local heritage and service.
